Stress Management:
Now most people will know what stress is, or will have at some stage experienced a level of stress. Stress can arise from many situations and circumstances that happen in our lives. Sometimes we there can be a big lead up to stress, while other times a situation will arise unexpectedly which can cause instant stress.
Stress management is a term used for how we deal with these stressful times and the feelings we have going on within ourselves. To manage stress we have to first know what has, or is causing the stress we are suffering. If we do not know instantly what is causing the stress we are suffering, we therefore have to sit back, reflect and pinpoint the underlying issue at hand which is in fact causing the stress we are suffering from. This can be quite difficult in some cases, for as we pinpoint the circumstance or situations that caused the initial onset of stress, further stress can be added. Dealing with stress can in fact be stressful given whatever the circumstances are in the beginning. This simply means, as we are dealing with the stress we have obtained relating to a certain issue, additional thoughts and issues may arise connected in some small way to the initial stress related cause. Kind of like a tree with many branches and twigs coming from it. Stress management then has to come into effect in more ways than one. Once you have pinpointed what has happened that has caused you the stress, you then have to sit back, and take a good hard look at the big picture, see all of what is going on. If you do not do this, you will only be dealing with the stress on the surface and further stress will be hiding underneath. Once you have created a clear picture of the whole situation, not just what took place on hand, then you can begin to kick stress management into complete action.
You may wish to write a journal, and keep note of the situation that has caused the stress, and possible reasons for it. Even create a pros and cons list about the situation which has caused you stress. Weigh this list up and evaluate whether what you are stressing over is of real importance or not, or whether what has caused you stress needs to be left well enough alone, or how in fact you make the situation better and rectify it to eliminate any further stress related to it.
Either choice you make, you need to find a solution which works well for you as an individual, and one that will eliminate the stress due to the given situation, and enough so that the situation or another possible situation similar does not return.
Sometimes it is best to eliminate the source of the stress completely, and this can be just as hard as eliminating the stress the source or situation has caused. Given this, you therefore have to think of your health, what you are getting out of the situation in the first place, your happiness, your goals, your wants and even your future. Reflecting on things like this can help you with dealing with a situation and the stress it may have caused you. This can ultimately make the difference in how easy and in how long it will take you to manage the stress caused by a given situation. Stress management also requires strength and willpower. You have to try not to fall into the pits of despair, therefore also not only having to manage stress but also possibly having to manage an unbalanced emotional state of mind, which could lead to depression. Stress really does need to be dealt with as soon as possible and not dwelled upon. Stress can be, if ignored, a very dangerous state of mind.
Now that I have explained a little about what stress management is in this article and how important it is to manage any stress that may arise, at any given time, I will provide below a list of stress management tips within this article.
