Second Hand Smoking Facts

Are you someone that has to suffer from breathing in someone else’s second hand smoke? Most of us at one stage or another have to breathe in second hand smoke. Why is this? Because there are smokers everywhere. Granted some places now around the world have a smoking ban, but smokers are still thick among us.

I have in this article for you, some facts about second hand smoking that may astound you if in fact you know absolutely nothing about second hand smoking already. The facts truly will give you a whole new understanding to knowing what it is like to inhale and be smoking second hand smoke. All smokers should be taught these facts also, so for any of you who know some smokers, get them in here and show them just what the facts are.

It is a known fact that non smokers are in fact running a higher risk of ending up with some form of cancer that any other person. I found this amazing to learn myself. Many non smokers die of lung cancer each year plainly due to smoking second hand smoke. Smoke that a smoker inhales is not as dangerous as that of second hand smoke that a non smoker inhales. Second hand smoke produces more chemicals than what a smoker inhales when smoking a fresh smoke (cigarette). It is believed that about 50 of the chemicals in second hand smoke can cause some form of cancer in non smokers.

These second hand smoking facts just keep getting uglier for the non smokers.

Second hand smoke will burn at a much slower rate than smoke freshly inhaled. Because of this slow burning process, the second hand smoke holds at least twice as much tar as the freshly inhaled smoke the smoker themselves inhale. And do not let us forget the extra amount of carbon monoxide the non smoker is smoking as opposed to the smoker. Fact of the matter is: the non smokers are actually smoking more than the smoker him or herself is smoking.

Second hand smoke does kill non smokers. Many people will scoff at this comment, but it is fact. However there are a few effects from smoking second hand smoke that are not so serious, yet serious enough within themselves, given it is smoke harming a non smoker. These facts regarding the possible health effects to a non smoker include: sore eyes, headaches, sneezing, coughs and sore throats, the feeling of being sick, faintness, increased heart rate. These are just a few heath effect facts about non smokers breathing in /inhaling/smoking second hand smoke. There are more health facts available to research on as well. Major health effect facts are a lot more serious. It is fact that non smokers smoking second hand smoke can get cancer, it is fact that non smokers smoking second hand smoke can die form smoking related disease, it is fact that smoking second hand smoke can cause a non smoker to have a stroke and it is fact that a child can obtain asthma due to smoking second hand smoke.

Everybody is in risk of smoking second hand smoke. There is not a lot we can do about it, yet try to avoid areas where people smoking are. Legal systems around the world are playing their role and trying to eliminate smoking from certain social areas. This could help the major problem that is out there with non smokers smoking second hand smoke and being more at risk or harm because of the second hand smoke, as opposed to the smoker smoking fresh smoke directly into their lungs!

You can help to eliminate the problem of non smokers smoking second hand smoke. All you have to do is direct smokers to pages and articles such as this one. Then they too can read the facts about second hand smoking and just what they are doing to others, without any real thought. You may be surprised. Someone you know to be a smoker, just may quit smoking because of such an article.
