Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Symptom - Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Treatment
By Leeanne Utiger Unfortunately for some, at a time in our lives we can experience post traumatic stress disorder. Post traumatic stress disorder can be caused by a large variant of factors and situations and circumstances. However, you can find a treatment suitable for post traumatic stress disorder to help you. First of I will explain in brief what post traumatic stress disorder is and what a couple of symptoms are. Post traumatic stress disorder is a debilitating anxiety disorder, and for many people, post traumatic stress disorder goes undiagnosed, but can often need urgent treatment. Post traumatic stress disorder and symptoms of post traumatic stress disorder normally occurs after a traumatic event or happening in ones life. This could be a death in the family to an accident, to the loss of a child or even a miscarriage. Post traumatic stress disorder can be hard to diagnose, unless of course symptoms are repetitive and end up creating problems in everyday life. If the symptoms are obvious, then a diagnosis of post traumatic stress disorder may be made and the appropriate treatment recommended and then prescribed.
If a person keeps reliving the traumatic experience or cannot seem to move away from it and heal, then they may be suffering from post traumatic stress disorder. This is often the symptom that can be recognized easier than other symptoms. People may avoid places or situations as it reminds them of the traumatic experience they suffered. This is a symptom of post traumatic stress disorder. Treatment is prescribed to help the person who has post traumatic stress disorder overcome the traumatic experience and begin to lead a normal happy life again. Post traumatic stress disorder can interrupt ones life and influence how one goes about their daily activities. Post traumatic stress disorder can also influence how one socializes with other people. A person who suffers from post traumatic stress disorder that is not receiving treatment for it can often shut themselves off from other people and tend to stay at home more often than they did before they suffered from a traumatic experience. These are also symptoms of post traumatic stress disorder. Post traumatic stress disorder can cause additional depression as well. This is simply because the person who is not being treated for post traumatic stress disorder is not coping with emotions and is more than likely emotionally unstable. Until the symptoms of post traumatic stress disorder are recognized and post traumatic stress disorder is diagnosed and treatment is prescribed, a person with post traumatic stress disorder can become worse, instead of better.
In addition to treatment being prescribed to a person with post traumatic disorder, it is also advisable that this person receives supportive patient education on post traumatic stress disorders, along with learning or relearning about cognitive behaviors. These two things combined with the treatment only a licensed registered doctor can prescribe will help a patient overcome their post traumatic stress disorder, or in the very least control it initially.
If people who suffer from post traumatic stress disorder are not diagnosed and further prescribed a form of treatment they can be facing the possibility that they will never fully recover from the traumatic event that happened in their life. This obviously is not a healthy situation. Therefore it is imperative you know what symptoms to be looking for to be recognizable. A person that suffers from post traumatic stress disorder can affect others in the same household. This makes diagnosis and treatment of utmost importance.
If you feel you may be suffering form post traumatic stress disorder, or know of a person who may have post traumatic stress disorder, consider what has happened to you or them in their life and whether it could have been enough to cause post traumatic stress disorder. Look out for the symptoms I have briefly mentioned above and then consider whether an appointment at your family doctor needs to be made. If it is another person you are concerned about, try to talk it over with them first, and if they don't want to hear what you have to say, or could be suggesting, speak to another close friend for a second opinion, and try to persuade the person you are concerned about to pay a visit to their family doctor for an examination in the least. However, always remember - you cannot help those that will not help themselves. You have to be very careful with your approach to a person who may have post traumatic stress disorder, as you could make things worse for them if they do not agree with you.
