Physical Symptom Of Depression - Sign Symptom Of Depression

By Leeanne Utiger
Depression as most of us already know is a form of mental illness, which many people suffer from, yet have not being diagnosed with due to symptoms and signs of depression not being recognized. Physical symptoms of depression can very easily be mistaken for other minor problems, which are not necessarily an illness, like simple tiredness.

This article is about the signs and symptoms of depression. So it may pay to read this article further, so you too know what the physical symptoms are that pinpoint depression. There are a number of ways you can recognize the physical signs and symptoms of depression. You may notice a person is acting out of a normal behavior pattern. However it is whether they are acting in this abnormal behavior frequently when in the past they were not. These strange behavior patterns you could now be observing in a person could be symptoms and warning signs of possible depression.

There are of course some very obvious signs and symptoms of depression affecting a person and their every day life and normal habits. A person who is suffering from depression may be showing one of two physical weight problem symptoms. Depression does have the ability to cause either weight gain, or towards the other angel on the scale - weight loss. These weight related issues can both be physical signs and symptoms of depression affecting a persons life.

Another possible physical symptom you may recognize in a person with depression, is the constant lack of emotion on facial expressions. A person with depression can either show very little emotion at times, to at other times showing a lot of sad emotion and unhappiness. Other physical symptoms of a person having depression can be something quite as simple as not placing too much effort into ones appearance. This is once again a physical thing that from the outside another person can observe.

Another sign and physical symptom of depression is major tiredness and constant fatigue. People who have depression show lack of energy and motivation to do anything or be involved with too much. These are also both physical symptoms and signs of possible depression.

So all in all we have the following physical symptoms and signs of possible depression:

Fatigue and constant tiredness
Lack of Motivation
Lack of Energy
Weight Gain or Weight loss
Abnormal Behavior Patterns
Lack of Emotion or an Abundance of sad emotion
Little effort placed into appearance

Other signs of a person possibly suffering from depression can include:

The person shutting themselves off from all others as often as possible.
Not wanting to socialize.
Mood swings
Lack of attention
Lack of concentration
The inability to communicate adequately

All of the signs and symptoms I have mentioned above in this article have the ability to be related to depression at one level or another. If you know of a person who suffers from any of the above physical symptoms or show signs of depression, then I suggest you at least try to talk to them about it. If they are not prepared to listen to you, then maybe you know of another close friend or relative that you may be able to voice your concerns to about this person possibly having depression.

Your main concern on observing these kinds of physical symptoms is that you get urgent assistance for the person who is showing them. If the symptoms and signs of depression are not confirmed this person can only but become further depressed. You do not want this to be the case. Depression can be, if left untreated a killer! So - please, if you recognize the above physical symptoms and signs of depression - do something about it - do not leave it go unattended or ignore it. You will not be either yourself or the person who has the symptoms of depression any favors.
