Personal Goal Setting - Setting Performance Goals
By Jason Taingahue Do you know much about personal goal setting or do you know anything at all about personal goal setting? Do you know anything about setting performance goals? If you do not have an answer for any of these questions then read on and I will give you some.
First of all, let's take a look at personal goal setting. So what is personal goal setting? Personal goal setting is a set of goals that you set for yourself. A sense of achievement is what is accomplished after you have succeeded in your goal or goals.
Personal goal setting is the mind focus on something that you really want. Once you have it locked into your mind and your heart, there is no stopping you in getting what ever you want and this is done by personal goal setting.
The first thing that you need to do when personal goal setting is to write down the main goal that you want to achieve and then below that write out some other personal goals that will help you to achieve your main personal goal. So it's like there is a main subject with sub subjects hanging off the main goal so that you can achieve them in little steps. You are well on your way with the personal goal setting now and once you reach that last main goal and accomplish it, you become untouchable and I tell you that it is a great feeling.
Some more personal goal setting tips that I can give to you is make sure that you look at your personal goal every day and place them some where that you will see them first thing in the morning and last thing before you go to bed. Good place to put them would be in the bath room or on the bedroom wall.
So now that we have touched on personal goal setting, what is setting performance goals all about and how do we start setting performance goals?
Performance setting goals are set for improvement on a particular task. The difference between personal goal setting and setting performance goals is that personal goal setting is just a finished task and setting performance goals is a finished task with the inclination to do better than you did the last time that you finished this goal.
An example of a performance setting goal is to take a piece of paper and write down the goal that you want to achieve, lets say that it is a 100 meter sprint, so write that down and then run the sprint and record your time. The next time that you run your sprint, you will try and better your time and if you cannot better your time then under the goal of "better times for 100 meters" write out what you could do to improve your times in the one hundred meters, for instance it could be harder training or less training and higher intensity. What ever you write down, these are called performance setting goals and we can just about use these sorts of goals on anything that we do in life. Having a friend do these goals with you is always good because he or she can give you the motivation to win your race and get better times because they are racing you as well, so you will give that extra three hundred percent to beat them.
Well I hope that gives you a little insight into personal goal setting and setting performance goals, give them a try, they can be really fun. And don't forget about the differences between the two as well so that you don't get them mixed up with each other. Good luck on your performance.
