Depression is an illness which is more common than what some people may be aware of. Depression is in fact a mental health illness. Our state of mental health is very important for us to be able to function sufficiently and adequately. If we are depressed and our mental health is suffering, we will often be of little use to ourselves, as well as others. There are a few things you need to learn about depression and how it affects our mental health. Depression is a state of emotional stability. This of course, is what makes depression fall into the category of mental health. There are many causes of mental health depression, so further below in this article I will outline a few causes of depression for you and how these causes affect our state and levels of mental health.

Causes of Mental Health Depression:
As I mentioned above, there are varying causes of depression which can affect our state of mental health at varying degrees. Mild depression will of course affect our mental health at a different degree than depression of a high nature.

Cause of depression vary form death to having very low self esteem. Low self esteem is a very common cause of depression. People gain low self esteem because of varying factors as well. Take a weight problem into consideration. If a person cannot possibly lose that unwanted weight, this is going to get them down, especially if another person is hassling them about it. Having a weight problem can often cause depression.

A hectic and extra busy work schedule can also cause depression in some. This can be especially true when staff are limited and deadlines are expected to be met.

The simple thought of aging can also cause depression for some. People get wrapped up in a state of mind over a situation or aspect of general life and sometimes just do not know how to get themselves out of it. This is how depression is initially caused.

Death and accidents, along with miscarriages and other very painful experiences can also be causes of depressions. Experiences like this can cause severe depression. If this is so, then the symptoms of depression need to be recognized and acted on immediately. If not a person suffering from severe depression due to one of the above causes of depression can slip into a state of mind they will either find it extremely hard to control or will in fact never be able to control or break free from the depression.

A common cause in teenagers of depression is peer pressure. Teenager years are often the hardest years in ones life time. This is simply because as a young person turning into a young adult, the body is going through changes, along with hormones changing and education becoming more important for future goals. Teenagers can be heartless and not know how to express themselves adequately and can often cause hurt to others. This hurt can then lead to depression in a teenager.

Stress which is caused by varying factors can also be the cause of depression. Basically, any situation in life has the possibility in being a cause of depression. It all depends on how each individual takes control of each aspect of their life. If you manage to control your feelings and deal with all that happens you will be fine. If you feel you come across a situation you may lose control over, seek help or assistance of some kind before you lose that control over your state of mind. Prevention of a cause of depression is often better than learning how to control depression itself.
