By Leeanne Utiger
For anyone that has a child or children, you will know that healthy eating is of extreme importance for the family. It is highly important that children do not grow up eating too much junk food and fizzy drink. This type of relaxed eating diet will in fact increase weight gain and problems for the child or children. A junk food eating diet will also decrease the energy levels in your children, which will affect the way they get through their every day, including time at school. Low or high energy levels will also affect the attention span of your children. So the healthier your children eat, the more likely they are to have higher concentration and therefore do better at school. So making sure your children are eating healthy must start at home. If your children are eating healthy at home, it will be easier for them to begin eating healthy at school.

If we consider the food pyramid you will already know what foods are in fact good and healthy for us when we are eating and which are not, or which we all should be eating in moderation. This food pyramid also applies to children and the way they eat. You need to encourage your children to eat healthy food as often as possible and try to veer them away from the quick and easy salty or fatty snack foods that are so readily available these days. Train them to start eating healthy foods.

Make sure you have on offer in your household plenty of fresh fruit. Fruit is a very source of vitamins and minerals, something we all need to have a daily intake of. So get your children eating more fruit and less quick and easy snacks and foods. It is suggested that a healthy eating plan includes five plus servings of fruit and vegetable a day. Give the children range to prepare their own meals, offering them healthy ingredients, and then letting them make the most of those ingredients using their imagination. You will be surprised what your children can come up with, and ultimately enjoy eating.

Amongst the fruit and vegetables you can have on offer for your children to be eating, also include other healthy foods such as cheese, milk, cracker biscuits, bread, chicken, meats that have protein, pastas in moderation. Evening and dinner meals do not have to be mundane and boring simply because they are healthy. In fact most healthy meals and recipes taste genuinely delicious on eating them.

I have a dinner recipe I prepare at home for my family, including my children. This dinner recipe is very versatile and can be played with a little.
