Goal Setting Theory - Goal Setting Activity
By Jason Taingahue So what is a goal setting theory? Do you know what a goal setting theory is? If you don't really know the answers to any of these questions then read on and I will tell you what a goal setting theory is and also I will give you a goal setting activity that you can follow. Both goal setting theory and a goal setting activity go hand in hand, just keep on reading and you will see what I mean.
A goal setting theory can simply be a quote if you want it to, something along the lines of "A dream is a set of goals and the goals pave the path to my dreams". A quote can be a goal setting theory like that one I have just mentioned and it doesn't even have to be a long quote, it can be short and straight to the point, you can even make your own quotes up so that you have something to look to when you feel like giving up.
Another goal setting theory that we can follow is that any goal setting that we do at any time, be sure that we have all the pro's and cons written out for each goal as well, this gives us a weighing up option to see if this goal needs to be represented by other goals to overcome any negativity that may enter into the realm.
The final part of our goal setting theory is belief. Believe that you can achieve and you will, if you do not believe using this goal setting theory then you will not accomplish. Belief comes from the mind and the mind controls every goal that you have set. So that is about all we need to know about goal setting theory, we can now move onto a goal setting activity.
A goal setting activity is a series of tasks that need to be carried out until the final achievement is reached. The goal setting activity that I am going to show you is for anyone, and can be manipulated in any situation that involves goal setting.
In this goal setting activity all that we need is a pad and a pen. We are going to write down what one of our dreams is and then we are going to write down how we are going to achieve this goal. This is called goal setting. For each task that leads to our dream we call this a goal and beside each goal we are going to write down how we are going to achieve this goal and what we need to do to get closer to our dream.
Once we have the goals written down, with those own goals that lead to your dream you can even write down other goals that lead off goals to reach the dream. Little achievable goals be written as a sub directory off the main goals.
This goal setting activity is called the elimination process to. When you have achieved a goal in your goal setting activity, cross that goal off. An achievement of a goal gives us a sense of confidence and belief, usually enough to carry us onto the next goal.
In the final stage of the goal setting activity in the lead up to your dream your confidence will grow immensely and once you have completed that goal setting activity you have the power to succeed in anything. Just use the same goal setting activity and you are well on your way to an awesome lifestyle.
