Anxiety Depression Symptom - Treatment For Depression And Anxiety
By Leeanne Utiger In today’s society, the mental illness known as depression, along with anxiety disorders exist in a higher percentage of people that what you may be aware of. Depression and anxiety have in the past been hard to diagnose due to the stigma of people feeling if they go to see the doctor regarding a problem with emotional state of mind, then they must be mental (as in full sense of the word). This is simply just not the case. Depression and anxiety disorders can be brought on by varying factors and situations that arise in life. Something extremely traumatic may happen tomorrow that could alter the state of mind of the most balanced person.
It is of importance however, to be able to recognize the symptoms of depression and anxiety disorders. If you recognize the symptoms of depression and any anxiety issues, then you can get yourself to a registered doctor and receive the appropriate medication and treatment for you. Each case of depression will be different. People can suffer from very mild depression to severe depression. People who fall into the latter category, and suffer from severe depression need to receive treatment as soon as is possible. Depression can lead to many thoughts and irrational actions and behaviors. Sufferers of depression and anxiety have been known to commit suicide, simply die to their unbalanced and depressed state of mind. This can be prevented by recognizing the symptoms of both depression and any anxiety disorder, and simply having a registered doctor evaluate and examine the facts and symptoms you are showing that could be linked to or confirm a condition of depression or anxiety.
Below I have provided for your reference a list of symptoms that can be linked to depression or anxiety disorder or both.
Symptoms of Depression and Anxiety Disorders:
Constant pessimistic feelings or thoughts
Lack of motivation
Lack of wanting to socialize
Feelings of worthlessness
Constant sadness and unhappiness
Lack of energy
Lack of confidence
Fatigue
Weight changes (either an increase, or decrease)
These are some of the symptoms of possible depression or an anxiety disorder. However - if you happen to suffer from one of these symptoms, it does not mean, nor confirm you are suffering from depression or an anxiety disorder. You have to be able to recognize at lease 4 of these symptoms on a recurring or prolonged basis before even considering the possibility you could be suffering from depression or an anxiety disorder. if you do happen to recognize at least 4 of these above symptoms and observation has shown you have had the symptoms for a while, I would advise you to schedule an appointment with your family or local doctor and have a word with him or her about them. He or she is the only person who can correctly diagnose depression or an anxiety disorder. On going to the family doctor, you will then learn about varying treatments for depression and anxiety disorders.
Treatment for depression and anxiety disorders can be prescribed to you by a registered doctor. You cannot purchase medicated drugs and treatment for depression over the counter from your local pharmacy. So if you feel you are in need of some form of treatment for a depression or anxiety condition, you will have to visit your doctor for further advice and a prescription for the appropriate treatment.
Aside from the treatment that a doctor can prescribe for you to control and help alleviate depression and anxiety symptoms, you can also try natural and self help treatment options. These treatments do not have to cost you a cent. You just need to put some time aside each day for them. Self help treatments for depression and anxiety disorders include:
Regular exercise (go for a 20 minute walk at least 3 times a week)
Yoga/Aerobics
Meditation
If you combine one of the above self help treatment regimes with the prescribed treatment and medication from your local or family doctor, you will be fighting back against the depression or anxiety that has crept into your life. Receiving the appropriate treatment for depression and anxiety disorders can make a huge change to the way you feel about yourself and daily activities. It wont happen overnight, but you will begin to feel better and be more motivated to get out and about to make the most of what life has to offer.
